Paving Pathways Counseling Program
2023-2024
Junior year is an exciting time for students at Jones! All of you will begin the journey with your counselor to research and plan what you will do after high school. We want you to know that your counselor is here to help you navigate through this search process and can be a great resource for you in making the right post-secondary decision. Our counseling program for juniors is called the Paving Pathways Junior Counseling Program. Below is an outline of what you can expect this year:
Three Paving Pathways Counseling Program lessons-TBD
Paving Pathways Counseling Program Family Event
October 2024 Juniors and their parents/guardians are invited to attend a virtual Q&A session to get an overview of the junior program as well as how Jones counselors support students through the college planning and other post-secondary planning processes. We will also discuss post-secondary options aside from college.
"Making College Affordable" Family Event
March ---The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) will present to junior students and parents on how to make college more affordable for students. Information about financial aid including scholarships and grants will be shared.
Junior Counselor Conference
February---Students will meet one-on-one with their counselors to talk about their post-secondary plans, summer plans and choose courses for senior year. Counselors will inform students of their appointment date and time.
College Essay Support
April --- ”College Essay Guy” Workshop series
May and June --- Writing college essays in English III classes
College Fair
March -Juniors have the option to attend the Jones College Fair.
