Course Scheduling

Course Scheduling

Course scheduling occurs each school year during the beginning of 2nd semester. For students, choosing courses for the following school year can be a very big decision to make in high school. To make sure students are on the right path for graduation and prepared for their post-secondary plan, counselors assist students throughout the entire course selection process.

For information regarding graduation requirements, scheduling policies, and a full overview of all classes offered at Jones, please review the Course Handbook SY 2025-2026

Junior students will input their own course requests into Aspen on February 3rd and 4th during English class. Counselors will come to all English classes to instruct students how to schedule. Juniors will have an opportunity to make changes to the courses they select on the 3rd and 4th in their Junior Conference, their one-on-one meeting with their counselor beginning February 5th. During this conference, we will also take this time to go over the student’s transcript to make sure all graduation requirements will be met by the time the student graduates from Jones. Appointment times for students are generated in a random order. After their counselor meeting students will not have an opportunity to make changes to their course requests until August.

Sophomore students will input their own course requests into Aspen on March 3rd and 4th during Sophomore Seminar. Sophomores will have an opportunity to make changes to the courses they select on the 3rd and 4th in their Sophomore Conference, their one-on-one meeting with their counselor beginning March 5th. During this conference, we will also take this time to go over the student’s transcript to make sure all graduation requirements will be met by the time the student graduates from Jones. Appointment times for students are generated in a random order. After their counselor meeting students will not have an opportunity to make changes to their course requests until August.

Freshman students will input their own course requests into Aspen during Freshman Seminar in mid-March but will have the opportunity to schedule an appointment with their counselor should they have any questions about the courses. Students should consult with their counselor prior to Freshman Seminar for questions regarding their schedule. Students will not have an opportunity to make changes to their course requests after scheduling until August.

Please contact your child's counselor for questions or concerns regarding the course scheduling process.
