Social Sciences

The Jones College Prep Social Sciences Department offers students a chance to explore, interact with and respond to their communities, city, country and world both historically and in the present. We ask students to approach their learning holistically by considering the economics, politics, historical context, culture, technology, and geographic dynamics of people, countries, and systems of power.

We work extensively across classes and with the library sciences to guide students to mastery of argumentative, historical, and research writing, debate and speech, and geospatial analysis. Students can expect to interact with and respond to primary and secondary writings and artifacts, and various data representations, learn from guest speakers and field studies, as well as engage in debate, discussion, projects, and experiential learning.
