Bio

Elijah Luis Hernandez ("Nurse Eli") has been part of the Jones College Prep community as a Health Service Nurse (HSN) since September 2021. He obtained his Master's of Science in Nursing Informatics from Chamberlain University on March 2022, as well as his Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from the UIC College of Nursing in May 2019. He was chosen as the class representative speaker for his nursing pinning ceremony. Originally a neuroscience medical-surgical nurse in Springfield, Illinois, Eli has worked in a variety of settings including hospital, clinic, elementary schools, and currently high school. His roles at Jones include assessing students with chronic medical conditions, providing first aid, and coordinating direct nursing services to students that may have an IEP or a 504 plan. As a nurse on the autism spectrum with a background in neuroscience, Eli is especially keen to students with neurological and developmental disorders.
 
Eli was also a previous student in Chicago Public Schools, having gone to Jose De Diego Community Academy and Carl von Linne Elementary School, and is a high school alumnus of Northside College Prep. His interests include cloud architecture (web design), software programming/coding, and playing volleyball. You can read more about Eli via the links below:
