Remote Learning Plan

 
The new Jones College Prep Remote Learning Plan.  Developed by our Instructional Leadership Team, the plan consists of weekly and daily schedules of instructional periods, teacher office hours, and Academic Lab times, all virtually accessible through Google Classroom, Google Meet, email, and other online platforms.  The purpose of the schedules is to allow students access to virtual instruction from their teachers during designated weekly time periods (9:00 - 11:00 am or 1:00 - 3:00 pm), avoiding time conflicts with their other classes, as well as providing designated times during which teachers are available to answer questions, provide feedback, and conduct virtual Ac Lab activities.  Instructional activities will vary for different departments and courses; they can include but are not limited to face-to-face live or recorded class presentations, independent student work, linked resources, and other learning activities.  Teachers will continue to post information and assignments online through Google Classroom. 
 
Please review the Remote Learning Plan with your students and begin planning how they will engage with this plan. To a large extent, this is a work in progress that will require everyone to be flexible and allow for a generous level of grace as we launch this new undertaking. The Remote Learning Plan will be operational starting Monday, April 13.  
 
There will be at least one member of the Administrative Team in the Main Office, typically between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday, including during Spring Break. However, the best way to reach an administrator is by email.  Our virtual office hours are 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, but we can generally be reached by email at any time. We will do our best to get back to you as quickly as possible.  If you require phone contact, please provide a number and the best times to call.

Remote Learning Plan - Weekly Schedule

Currently, school is set to reconvene after April 30th, 2020. Therefore, the schedule below will be in place until that time or longer if needed. There may be modifications to this schedule based on further determinations by the Governor, ISBE, the Mayor, and CPS. Counselors are available for consultation regarding academic, social and emotional, college planning, or other such matters between 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Appointments are not necessary, but are recommended. Administration will hold virtual office hours from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday-Friday.

Please note the virtual Ac Lab times are dedicated time for specific content areas when content areas will hold course specific sessions. Teachers will be available at other times. Please reference your specific Google Classroom for details.

Student Support Services

    • CPS has provided a document (attached) to assist with addressing student mental health concerns.
    • School counselors will be available virtually during the school hours as described above. More information on meeting scheduling and communication protocols will be provided after Spring Break.
    • Continue to review emails from "JCP Counselors Corner" and your counselor's Google Classroom for additional information, resources, and counseling curriculum.
    • All counseling curriculum will be provided asynchronously (via Google Classroom) outside of regular instructional hours for students to review at their leisure so as to not interfere with the real-time instruction being provided by their content teachers.
