2020 LSC Election
Local School Council Election Information
Chicago Public Schools have Local School Councils (LSC) which are responsible for three main duties:
- Approving how school funds and resources are allocated
- Developing and monitoring the annual School Improvement Plan
- Evaluating and selecting the school's principal
The 2020 local school council elections will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2020, for high schools. The term is for two years starting on July 1, 2020. High School Students Representatives serve one-year terms.

Type in the name of your school ("Jones HS"), select "Enter" on your keyboard, and an informational box will appear. On the lower right-hand side of the box, click the "LSC."
Local School Councils are made up of the principal, parents, community members, school staff members, and students.
Elected LSCs in High schools consist of 13 voting members:
1 - Principal
6 - Parent representatives
2 - Community representatives
2 - Teacher representatives
1 - Non-teaching staff representative
1 - Student representative
Parents and community members elect the parent and community representatives. School staffs vote for teacher and non-teaching staff candidates to be appointed to those positions on the LSC by the Board. The composition of Appointed Local School Councils and Boards of Governors varies from the composition of elected LSCs. Please call the Office of Local School Council Relations (773-553-1400) for the composition of a particular Appointed Local School Council or Board of Governors.

*Student elections will be held separately at the end of March (before Spring Break).

Nomination forms must be received in person no later than Friday, March 9, 2018, at 4:30 PM in the Jones Main Office. Candidate forms will not be accepted via fax, email, or mail.
