The summer running program for the boys cross country team at Jones is a summer-long series of open practices where students who are interested in competing are welcome and encouraged to come out and run.

The boys cross country team is the largest boys team at Jones with over fifty runners belonging to it and everyone is welcome to join, regardless of skill. There are no talent based cuts and every person is developed individually based on personal progress. The only thing that is required of our runners is consistent hard work, commitment, and a good attitude.

The program has high expectations for success, as it became the first team from the CPS since 1963 to win the IHSA State Championship in 2012 when they were also ranked as high as fifteenth in the nation by Running Times Magazine. They have currently won 8 Freshmen City Championships in the last 9 years, 6 titles at the sophomore level and 7 titles in a row at the JV level and are the defending Varsity City Champions, having won 3 titles in the last 7 years.

Even those without prior running experience are encouraged to join as most of the athletes on the team did not possess any background in the sport before arriving at Jones.

The summer serves as a fun and opportune time to get to know the team and gain valuable conditioning experience before the fall season begins.

All interested members must also visit to register (link found under 'Runner Information'). Please also follow the team on Twitter (@jcpxc) and Instagram (JCPXC) for the most up to date info in the event of cancellations or time changes.

Note: All camp members must also register on the  "Freshman Registration Form" at (under the "Team Information" tab) in order to receive the most up-to-date announcements regarding any changes or modifications.
