Melynda Kroeger was born and raised on Chicago’s North side and so by birth she was destined to be a lifelong Cubs fan. While she has lived many places in Illinois, including a soybean and corn farm, she loves her native Chicago. Melynda enjoys movies, plays, reading, concerts, writing, museums, driving trucks, snowy winters, watching too much bad TV (reality shows and sit-coms!) and baseball games. She enjoys visiting all the Chicago attractions, especially Navy Pier where she has an unhealthy obsession for building bears at the Build-a-Bear Workshop.
More than anything, Melynda has unconditional love for her students and family. She is seriously devoted to her student’s educational and emotional well-being. Melynda finds teaching both hard work and fun and she feels blessed that students allow her to listen to them and help them problem solve any situation. She believes she is very fortunate to work at Jones because of her students, their caring families and her esteemed colleagues and supervisors. When she is not working, she spends time with her awesome sister, loving parents, her quirky, cool, dynamic nieces and nephews and the very best husband and dog anyone could hope for! You’ll probably see her walking the Jones neighborhood with Keith (husband) and Petunia Tatum Louise (strangely wonderful dog).
Melynda is looking forward to the coming school year! You will see her teaching AP Psychology, working in the Writing Center and at Homework clubs as well as various spots in the school building. She is sponsoring Jewish Club with Dana Tamez and would be happy to start up other clubs of interest to students! Please let her know if you have any ideas or need to meet!
